Magic Breakfast
Albion Primary School has joined the government’s National School Breakfast Programme (NSBP), which is being delivered by the charities Family Action and Magic Breakfast.
Albion is offering a free bagel to all our children allowing the children to have the right fuel for learning and ensuring that all our children have access to food before they start their action packed school day.
Albion primary School joined the Government’s National School Breakfast Programme (NSBP) in December 2018. The scheme, currently delivered by the charities Family Action and Magic Breakfast offers bagels and breakfast cereals to schools.
We launched Magic Breakfast at Albion Primary School in January 2019. There were a number of different ways to distribute the bagels to the children. We decided to offer a free bagel to all our children in the playground, at our grab and go bagel station. The bagel station allows the children to have the right fuel for learning before they start their action packed school day. The nursery children have a bagel during their snack time.
Teaching Assistants along with children were responsible for serving the bagels that the breakfast club staff had prepared.
The provision was a success and parents/carers often commented on how quickly their children got dressed for school, as they were keen to get their morning bagel.
Unfortunately, since March 2020 we were not able to offer this provision to our children due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
NSBP continued to supply us with a large amount of bagels along with cereal and baked beans throughout the lockdown period. Which enabled us to provide our families with bagels for their families during this very difficult and worrying period. | ![]() |
